Self-Contained Accommodation (Sleeps 16 - 20)

The wonderful 'Wai Ngaio Retreat' with its ever changing Pacific Ocean views is a large lodge set back in the hill, approx 20 mins drive from the Ica Homestead and 3kms from the isolated beach settlement of Otahome. 

Otahome is situated mid-way between the beach resorts of Riversdale and Castlepoint and is a 50 minute drive from Masterton.  It takes approx 50 minutes to drive to Castlepoint from the retreat and 25 minutes to drive to Riversdale from here. 

The accommodation comprises:
  • Bedroom 1 -    Queen Bed 
  • Bedroom 2 -    Twin Beds
  • Bedroom 3 -    3 x Bunk Beds (6 Beds)
  • Bedroom 4 -    3 x Bunk Beds (6 Beds)

The retreat is an ex-hunting and fishing lodge that has been refurbished to provide excellent accommodation for up to 20 persons and is furnished to a high standard with mod cons, including a dish washer and disabled shower room. 

Here you have the beach almost to yourselves, it is approx 5kms away, only a few minutes drive down a metal/gravel road.  Enjoy walks along the beach, dipping your toes in the sea, rock pools or lagoons.  You can fish from the beach, watch out for seals or even pick paua off the rocks at low tide!  (3kms down the beach is the ideal spot for this - bring a quad bike for easier access).

The Wai Ngaio Retreat has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large open plan living/dining area and a separate kitchen with large serving hatch.  All beds and bunks are king single and have mattress and pillow protectors as well as fitted bottom sheets and pillow cases.  You must BYO sleeping bag or duvet and towels.

The retreat has good disabled facilities with a ramp access and a disabled bathroom.  Not forgetting the huge flat screen TV/DVD with 'Freeview' for your entertainment.  Private and peaceful, this is the perfect place for large family or friends' groups to get together for some fun on the Wairarapa Coast!  Corporate/Business Retreat enquiries are welcome too.

Cost:
 $600 per night (up to 16 persons). 
This is a 'unit' rate, there is no lesser rate for fewer persons.
Extra persons $40pppn (max 20 persons).
​A refundable Cleaning/Breakages Bond of $200 applies to each booking.
Minimum 4-nights stay over Christmas or New Year.
Minimum 3-nights stay School Holiday periods.
Strictly No pets!
